Free blend combination series

Abundant resources emitted annually 1.8 million tons  Rice husk combination

Utility value and significance of rice husks

The "free blend method", a technology that can mix 50% or more of the target material with the plastic raw material as the base resin, can utilize various materials as the target material.
As the target material, we will focus on the materials that are not harmful to the environment but have been disposed of as industrial waste, and blend the most effective and superior material for environmental protection into plastics. I succeeded in the matter.
For example, it is a combination of thinned wood generated in deforestation, okara discharged in the process of manufacturing tofu, and a combination of shochu dregs discharged in the process of refining shochu.
It is possible to mix these food wastes with plastics.

Among these food wastes, we will introduce a free blending method that uses rice husks, which are originally located as non-edible biomass raw materials. Rice husks are the ones that are always generated and disposed of in the production of rice, and from the perspective of the target material, they are always one of the raw materials that are stably supplied and carefully selected and controlled.

Rice husk disposal process

Seedlings show the breath of spring, grow lush in summer, and finally enjoy the harvest of rice that grows in autumn.
It is engraved in my heart as a beautiful landscape of our Japan.
While there was such a landscape, there must have been no interest in rice husks, which are disposed of in proportion to the harvest!

5. Rice husk removal

We should have seen rice husks burned in the rice fields after the rice harvest.
Did you notice that only white smoke is coming in and the volume is not decreasing at all?
In fact, rice husks are mainly composed of silicon, which makes combustibility worse. If you still dare to burn it, you need an incinerator equipped with high-temperature incinerator.
Furthermore, since a large amount of CO2 is generated during incineration, the current situation is that rice husk incinerator is being bashed in terms of environmental protection.
When it comes to this, the only option is to bury it in the soil, and while it is an environmentally friendly material, the disposal method is treated as first-class industrial waste, that is, it is a "nuisance".

Utilization as a target material for the free blend method

"Free Blend," an injection molding technology that does not use pellets, developed by Daiichi Seikosha, puts a scalpel into the disposal of rice husks that produce 1.8 million tons per year .

Daiichi Seikosha purchases only rice husks directly from the country elevator.
Since it is necessary to make good use of the rice husks that should be thrown away, we dared to set a purchase price and asked the agricultural cooperatives for clean storage and transportation.
The rice husks that arrive at Daiichi Seikosha are finely crushed to keep the particle size constant. By doing this, the variation in the composition when making a plastic molded product is eliminated. In the next step, the rice husks are subjected to a coupling process for mixing with the plastic and then mixed with the plastic powder.

As I have introduced, the utility value and significance of rice husks as a target material are roughly divided into four.

(1) Promote the reuse of rice husks by blending more rice husks than plastic (2) Change the properties of rice husks into burning garbage by blending 51% or more of rice husks (3) Incinerate by using rice husks that were industrial waste Reduce occasional CO2
④ Reducing the amount of plastic used to 50% or less also reduces the burden on the environment.

In this way, we can quickly contribute to such a big effort that can no longer be ignored.

Silicon accounts for about 90% of this rice husk, and the rest is composed of substances that are harmless to the human body, such as cellulose and lignin.
Silicon, the main component, is also a substance that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has certified as harmless to the human body under the Food Sanitation Law.
Therefore, if it is combined with a plastic raw material to which the Food Sanitation Law applies, even if it is used as a raw material for commercialization,
You can meet the standards of the Food Sanitation Law.

From input to output

We were able to revive the rice husks that had been treated as industrial waste to materials that can be used as products.
The maximum content of rice husks is up to 70%, and if a certain amount of rice husks are mixed, it can be changed to a raw material that is water-absorbent and breathable even though it is plastic.

At Daiichi Seikosha, it is possible to mix in 1% increments, so we can achieve a blending ratio that meets the product requirements that customers want to make.
Already, flowerpots, food trays, and display baskets have begun to be replaced from 100% plastic to plastic with rice husks.

The biggest hurdle is the sense of speed on the part of customers who do not feel the utility value even if they know it.
What to replace with rice husk plastic ...
The answer is left to the customer who has a store that usually uses a large amount of plastic equipment.
This initiative will directly lead to the construction of a permanent sound material-cycle society recommended by the Ministry of the Environment.
In addition, the Ministry of the Environment has set up a contact point that allows you to apply for subsidies for the development of the product. Please take a look at all the plastic equipment and store materials used in the store.
Why not consider reducing plastics with this raw material that uses 51% or more of rice husks?
